So there's this meme going around where you draw yourself as a teenybopper. So I did.

2002 (my sophomore year) wasn't that long ago, but it feels like it was forever-ago that I was 16. At least by this time I had lost the strap that I had for my glasses. There's also a reason I don't draw myself with glasses.
It would still be a year from this point until I found the internet, Rock-n'-roll, writing, my laptop, and dragons.
Also, I still have both the birks (never out-of-fashion, never in-fashion), and the shorts. Seriously, they're like the only pair of awesome, comfortable shorts I've ever been able to find.
Edited: Colored.

Daniel is no help at all, for asking actual, deep questions. I've also decided that I am going to take a Philosophy class. This means a freaking full load, next semester.
- Engrish class on Brit Lit (Eng367)
- Theology class!
- German 201! Again! For Not Credit! Because not taking German for a year and then taking 202 is a ridiculiously stupid idea!
- Something Else Goes here! Maybe a Philosophy Class!
- That PE Class!
- I really want to continue to take music classes, but I don't know
I also want to go abroad (to China!), but I don't know if my schedule will let me, and allow me to graduate.
I'm going to live in the library; I really need to get alaptop MacBook. I'm going to buy it myself, after I get my books.
Also, I'm going to be in town (that is, Spokane), probably this Saturday. I might even be able to do things in the mid-eventide.
List seven songs you're into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're not any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions on your LJ along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to. Select a lyric from the song that you really like, too.
Europe - "The Final Countdown"
We're heading for Venus and still we stand tall
Cause maybe they've seen us and welcome us all
With so many light years to go and things to be found
I'm sure that we'll all miss her so.
Miss Jane - "It's a Fine Day"
It's a fine day
People open windows
They leave their houses
Just for a short while
They walk by the grass
They look at the sky
Simon and Garfunkel - "The Only Living Boy in New York"
The only living boy in new york.
I get the news I need on the weather report.
I can gather all the news I need on the weather report.
Hey, Ive got nothing to do today but smile.
The Beatles - "Blackbird"
Blackbird singing in the dead of night
Take these broken wings and learn to fly
All your life
You were only waiting for this moment to arive
Tarkio - "Better Half"
Sweet was the wine
Sweet was the opium-fettered soul
And I lost control
But I'm not the only one who let you down
I'm not the only one who turned your head around
Turned your offer down
Tender the light
Left you for your better half
Rammstein - "Rosenrot"
Tiefe Brunnen muss man graben
wenn man klares Wasser will
Rosenrot oh Rosenrot
Tiefe Wasser sind nicht still
Der Jüngling steigt den Berg mit Qual
Die Aussicht ist ihm sehr egal
Hat das Röslein nur im Sinn
Bringt es seiner Liebsten hin
Within Temptation - "Dark Wings"
Why was I one of the chosen ones?
Until the fight I could not see
The magic and the strength of my power
It was beyond my wildest dreams
Dark wings they are descending
See shadows gathering around
One by one they are falling
Every time they try to strike us down

“When two stand in the doorway, three stand. When two spread their wings, three do so. More than being in the stead, it is in addition,” recited K., reading from a dirk slab.
“Take a good look around you; what do you see, K.?” asked D.
“Nothing—save for you, me, and this odd dirk slab.”
“But not three, as was proposed,” D. added, finishing.
“So, what could be meant by three?”
D. simply smiled, knowingly. “How could you have forgotten about the blade? Whatwith the life and the fury? We shine like bright sparks; our lives a flash of noise and colour.
“And what makes us enjoy that certain bright flash of steel? I never had occasion to before. What is this odd irony inherent in this war for peace?
“It says that there are three. There was a before, and now there is an after; I wasn’t this before, and though I could never be again, is there still hope?”
“Perhaps,” replied K., “it is only in reference to the third, the actually other, not the Has Been.
“And doesn’t that contradict in meaning what you have already stated? The Dervish of colour and darkness? Is it a flash of light, not a flash of darkness?”
D. simply glared at K.

I might have gone slightly insane yesterday, after filming all day—my attention was easily distracted by shiny things (as Daniel and Catherine can easily attest), and my sense of balance was rather off. I also should have gotten to sleep earlier than I did.
I got up for breakfast this morning at eight-twenty, with Catherine, and promptly came back and fell asleep until work at eleven.
Sat in History drawing battles between Robots and Giant Lizards. “Giant Lizards and Robots”? I don't know; no matter how I phrase that sentence, it seems to give more emphasis or significance to the “Giant Lizards” rather than to the “Robots” …
I must also say that Army of Darkness is an awesome movie. It's cheesy, funny, and silly in kind, but actually accomplishes this with quite good photography.
This week should be more relaxed than the last—I have things to do (and things due), but I don't have a huge chunk of my time committed in the evenings of this week.
Even after almost three months, I still have yet to come up with a satisfactory name for the PowerMac G5 tower. I'd like to know some suggestions.
As it stands, the last four computers I've owned had names, as well as other various things:( I'll spare you teh_listing-ness-osity )
I actually use names of characters (usually secondary ones) for the names of hardware. I don't think I could stand a piece of hardware with the nomenclature of “D'lan”—mainly because Dylan would then have a hard time living up to it.
Anyway, I'm open to suggestions.

It's just Magic, as in The Gathering. Yep. Played it with friends yesterday; last night. I actually found it quite a pleasurable way to unwind after a day. I need to make the deck better, though. I have deemed it appropriate to enjoy the game, as there is merit to it and the logic that it employs. Writing things is still my biggest obsession (after Snakes on a Plane and Firefly, of course).
Walked up to the bank, to-day, and deposited an out-standing cheque. It means that I will have more money now, which is ever useful (damnit). I'm not a fan of credit cards, though. Not a fan …
April 1st is coming. Rumblings from Cupertino. Thirty years is a long time.

CSCE 120 ... or work ...
now playing: Neverhood Songs - Klayman Shuffle
I had a really awesome discussion with my writing professor to-day. Writing is by far my favourite class this semester (though I am getting excited about my presentation for CSCE, because it's actually something that I like doing--the presentation, not the class; I don't know what the hell is going on in the class) So, we're having conferences this week, so there is no class (also, not next week, for obvious reasons). I had signed up for an eleven-fifteen appointment, and the professor had asked us to come in early to get our papers. I came by about ten-thirty, to get mine, and he asked me to stick around, because he had messed-up the scheduling, and wouldn't have the twenty minutes that he wanted to spend with us. I sat and chatted with him for a little under an hour, leaving about eleven-twenty-five, covering a broad range of topics related to writing, after discussing the paper; there was a little discussion on blogs, books, and other things. He mentioned something about how he lost an old Fender Stratocaster, which was sad; even I, who know little about guitars, know that is an excellent guitar.
See, I can pin down the exact date that I started writing. I have written at least something every day. The date was actually January twenty-fourth, 2004. Junior year. Farsong (aka FTLOD) was started the twenty-seventh. I started writing because I had aquired a laptop; up until this point, the laptop had been sitting around, collecting dust and not being put to use. I used the heck out of it, giving it a few up-grades and wearing out the old battery. By the end, the machine was more duct tape than plastic. The machine still works, though I retired it in January 2005 becuase it was too 'spensive to purchase a new battery.
It was at this point that my parents got me the used PowerBook G3, installed with Classic (Mac OS 9.2.2). I got a copy of Panther (OSX 10.3.5), and installed that. After a few up-grades, it became my main computer--mostly because it was faster than my desktop (which was not saying much). This January, the machine's GPU died, leaving me high-and-dry. No graphics display. It was maddening, though all my files were fine.
I switched back to a desktop--the G5 I have now. It's the best one yet, and the first thuroughly modern, new, and fast computer of my own; up till now, I've had a computer that's behind the times by at least four years, pushing all these systems to the max. I could go through the different compters that I have had, but that would turn into a long, boring read.
But that's now what I'm about, right now. I'm also not about how inefficient the banner-web employee-services timesheet is, and how it lacks a twenty-four hour method of input. Seriously, it just makes more sense! But that's not what I'm about.
What I am about, though, is a meme, gacked from

Busy busy. I'll have four concert attendance forms by the end of this weekend. That's really helpful, and really awesome—especially since I failed last semester, and only got four. So I got a bad mark for music. This semester is being p0wn3ed, however.
I was actually working one of the concerts last night, running the house sound mix with Mike. There were some … issues with stage[crew], and not telling us what was going on, resulting in Gabe having to do more work than he should have in the recording room, and reflecting on [Multimedia services] poorly.
Also, I saw my friend Eric's Trumpet Recital. He did well, but was obviously nervous. Later, he asked me whether he sounded tired, because he was leaking major air by the last piece. I said that it was apparent, but really only to other trumpet-players. He did do a good job. He also had a really dark sound. Apparently, he plays with a really large mouthpiece. There was also a stagehand working, bringing out chairs and stands; what was interesting was that that he had the word “Veritas” (latin: “truth”) tattooed on his outer right forearm.
I was going to head to somewhere with Vince and one of his friends, after I was done working the concert, but the ride there fell through. It was unfortunate, because ever since last weekend, I have really wanted to dance. Then I intended to do laundry and head down and check out the T-stad Casino night. I, instead, was distracted by MST3k, and hung with Tim, André, and Malcolm for the evening. We had an awesone-fun time, watching movies and going to the cave. Rule of thumb: any time you go to the cave with André, expect to spend at least an hour, mostly spent laughing. We did find some common ground in a thing no one would ever expect (or suspect): the fact that all of us have chewed on bouncy-balls. Hell-of-weird. It was funny to stand outside of the dorm at one in the morning, seeing people coming home; they were all mostly wasted, including three people on bicycles. “Let me guess,” said André, in reference to a pack of girls. “Third Floor?” We all started laughing, because he was right.
I'm also really digging this new sketchbook, too—the 8"x8". It's really fun, and exactly the right size!
Mmgh.

Haha. World Beard Championships. There are some awesome beards here, and they are real.
Ironically, I was just chatting with friends at lunch about Beard Wars, and how they would be a more extreme (or shall I say x-treem?) version of the Moustache Fighting League. Vincent wanted to go back in time, to the Victorian era, and start up Beard Battles which would be forever documented in paintings of the gruesome sport; images of one bearded man nerfing another, hardxcore.
Anyway, the latest in eljay memery.
*cough*
I think we'll say that this is the drawing thing for the weekend (even though I completely pulled it out of my ass, no references, free-hand, on the tablet, in about 30 minutes, while moderately-distracted by unpleasant smells emanating from the fridge, and while chatting with people).
On a somewhat-related note, the G5 really is a pleasure to use, and runs so smoothly. I think that it would have taken 45 (not 30) minutes on the G3.
And, I'm off to pack, so's I can move on the morrow.

Also, I demand more puppies.
In other news, yesterday was Friday, and I'm terrible about this “updating with a comic” thing. I swear that I have one, but It still needs to be coloured and finished.
Probably going to go get some pens and a 7"x7" sketch pad to-day, and perhaps a cold cathode for inside the G5, so the blue light spills out through the front grille and looks awesome.

First iPods, and now laptops too? What is up with Apple?
Firewire 400 gone from new Apple PowerBooks?
ZD Net Blog
I don't know what Apple is thinking, but I really love my two Firewire ports on my PowerBook. Sure, USB 2.0 would be okay, but to loose the ability to both charge my iPod through the computer, and the ability to fully power my external drive (it needs two powered USB ports to fully power it, as opposed to one powered (6-pin) Firewire port). Seriously, I would buy a PCMCIA (PC card) with Firewire ports on it, and use that, if Apple decides to drop Firewire. That is one of the reasons that I love Apple's portables, because theirs are the only laptops on the market to offer 6-pin powered Firewire (IEEE 1394). I mean, dropping from two Firewire ports to only one is bad enough, but having none at all, or even having a Firewire 800 port to mock you (because you don't have a 9-pin-to-6-pin connector), is worse. Seriously. I really hope that this rumour is not true …

( I'm a big geek X3 )
Also, an announcement:
It is official; I am moving to Hinderlie, and to upper campus.
( year's end meme )
And that's a wrap. < /end helluv_tags >

I get the feeling that my printer is broken, specifically, the USB controller for it. It doesn't respond, and when I plug it in to the computer, it does not pop up like it should. I will have to look in to this, as it presents a hindrance for both essay-writing and drawing (whereby a ink over a sketch printed out in blue, to both fix problem lines and because it's easier than drawing on the computer, and easier to edit out the blue lines than grey pencil is to edit out or erase).
So, then, a funny story that is related directly to Rammstein. Our Professor was demonstrating the pronunciation of the letter “z” in words, and was listing off “z” words, and one of the words that she used as example was “Zwitter” or Hermaphrodite, more commonly known by way of the Rammstein song of the same name. Jared and I just looked at each other, sort of cringing and wondering why it was that she used that particular word. It was just awkward, but no one else seemed to know what the word meant. The word “Zerstören” (the infinitive verb “to destroy”) also popped up today. It was a Rammstein-fest to-day.
( meme of doom; if you don't do this, you loose at life; aka, do this and/ or die )
Speaking of which, I am always afraid that every e-mail I get will be like "You loose at college … and life." at which point I would be all like "OMGWTFBBQ?!?!", hyperventilate, run around the room freaking out, smack into something, knock myself out, and fall over.
Yes, because I am freaking lazy there is a rant pending.

W007. I have a job, starting to-morrow at 13:00. Student Media Services! I'm excited! I also need the money, though not desperately.
Today its self has been an odd sort of day; it's been dark outside all day and it smells like winter. I mean, it's really mild weather here, as the temperature hasn't dropped below freezing yet, but it still smells like winter outside. Yesterday, there was a beautiful sunset, and I just thought to myself "this is why I love the northwest".
My roomie is freaking out about registration, and the fact that he just realized he has a hold on his account from an un-paid parking-ticket. He keeps shouting obscenities loudly and they hurt my ears -- as in, the volume of his shouting in our enclosed room hurts my ears. I was worried about the hold on mine, because of the SNAFU with the transcript from Eastern, but a fax and a few days took care of that.
I like fax machines.
I just found an announcement that has the word "grey" in it, and the word is spelled correctly; it made me happy; I'm simple like that.

I was quite nearly dancing and doing the "jazz-y hands" thing in the middle of the street to-day.

And, a brief insight on the mind of Steve: Whenever I see the word "center" I always say (and usually aloud) "They spelled centre wrong".
